Kawaii Kitty Cafe – Exploring Philadelphia’s Cutest Spot

While planning a quick weekend trip to Philadelphia, for some reason (heavy sarcasm here!) I typed in “Kawaii Philadelphia”, expecting nothing to come up. Lo and behold, the Kawaii Kitty Cafe appears. What a pleasant surprise.

After a 6 hour or so car ride, we arrived in Philadelphia at our Airbnb. We got settled and freshened up, and scheduled a Lyft to come pick us up.

Queue the anxiety.

I have never been in a Lyft or Uber or similar ride sharing sort of deal, so trying this out was on the nerve wracking side. After all, I was about to climb in a complete strangers car and let him or her drive us to wherever she saw fit as dictated by us.

Our Lyft arrived and luckily she was a super kind and nice lady, who drove aggressively as is needed in the city. A 20 minute ride in the car and we had arrived at the cafe!

For whatever reason, it took us a little bit of time to locate the cafe, probably because both of us were not used to or had any sort of bearing on where we were in the city. This was my first time in Philadelphia, so I had absolutely no idea.

Once we arrived, we walked back to the cafe to check in and order our drinks. I saw online that they had some pretty crazy drinks and did latte art, so that was on my list of to-dos.

Everything about the cafe is SO. CUTE. Everything is a soft pastel color, pretty much straight out of my dreams.

They offer ice creams, hot chocolates, milkshakes, and other cute drinks. I opted for a Unicorn Hot Chocolate and my sister opted for a hot chocolate with cute kitty art on top. They took our orders (the ladies working when we visited were so sweet!) and checked us in. They do require a cover fee to visit with the cats, which amounted to $22 for the two of us.

They also have a large assortment of merch that you can purchase to remember your time at the cafe! I chose to pick up a coffee mug and some buttons for my bag. They were also super sweet and gave me some stickers as well! Everything was packed up nice and secure so it would make the travel home.

We sat for a few minutes while we waited for our reservation time to start and waited for our drinks to be made. Others arrived who had also scheduled at the same time, ordered their drinks, and waited as well to spend some much waited time with some kitties.

Once it was time for our hour in the cat room, we were escorted by the staff and warned to close the door quickly behind us, as they currently had a great escape artist on their hands.

All of the cats in the cafe are adoptable, with one being removed from the room before we entered because he had been adopted. Since the cats are socialized all day long by those attending the cafe, they all were incredibly friendly when we visited, with many jumping up around us and running around on the floor.

After playing with the cats for a little while, the staff started to deliver drinks that everyone had ordered before we entered the cat room. The drinks were all massively adorable and a nice treat after driving so far to get to Philadelphia. We had to fend off some of the kitties who were after the near mountain of whipped cream that topped my drink. They were all super curious!

One thing that I noticed about the cafe was how ridiculously clean the entire space was. You would think that with 9 cats in a single room that it would smell and have hair everywhere, but I left with no hair on my clothes. As someone who has had cats, this was kinda on the crazy side to me. There was no litter box smell, no dander or dust. They really take care of the cafe!

About halfway through our reservation, it seemed like the room had cleared out and the other people who had booked had figured it was time to head home. The reservation was for an hour long and it was nice that I got some time at the cafe with just the cats and my sister.

I would totally recommend that if you’re traveling to the area that you make a stop at the Kawaii Kitty Cafe and support what they’re doing! This was a great stop for me and really helped to ease a lot of the travel anxiety that I was dealing with. Even if you can’t take one of the cats home, it’s always nice to visit with them and make them feel loved! If you want to book a visit, you can click here to do so! I hope maybe someday I can go back and get some more time in playing with the cats and sipping adorable drinks.

As a kawaii lover and pastel color enthusiast, this little space was a total dream for me. If you find yourself in Philadelphia, I hope you carve out some time to visit the Kawaii Kitty Cafe! I don’t think that you’ll regret making the choice to visit some cute kitties!

More Philadelphia content coming soon! Just getting back into the swing of things writing, so I hope to be MUCH more consistent going further! I have a lot to share on the cosplay front as well, so keep your eyes peeled!

Much love + hugs
